Wet weather continued in Fort Worth on Monday, forcing NASCAR to again move back the conclusion of the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500 Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.

Officials will make another attempt at finishing the race on Tuesday. The hopeful starting time is 12 p.m. Eastern and it will be televised on NBCSN.

More rain is forecast for the area on Tuesday, however.

The race was originally scheduled for Sunday afternoon. But misty weather dampened the track and with just 52 laps completed, officials waved the red flag.

The weather failed to improve and the decision was made to continue the race beginning at 10 a.m. Monday.

Texas is the second of three races in the Series' Playoff Round of 8.

Before the mist made racing untenable, a couple of notable events occurred.

Pole-sitter Kevin Harvick, a favorite to win at Texas, slapped the wall 29 laps into the race. The Stewart-Haas Racing driver, who has won nine times in 2020 and three times at TMS, had to pit for repairs. He was leading when he hit the wall.

Playoff contender Martin Truex Jr.'s day didn't begin as hoped as his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota failed pre-race inspection. The illegal spoiler on the car cost Truex, the 2017 Cup champion, 20 owner and driver points and sent him to the rear of the field for the start.

Because of the penalty, which also included the ejection of crew chief James Small, Truex started the race seventh in the Playoffs Round of 8 and 51 points out of the fourth and final spot in the Championship 4 race in Phoenix in two weeks.

Clint Bowyer was scored as the leader when the red flag waved on Sunday.
