Poster | Australia has "ideological disagreement" with U.S. on tariffs: PM

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has pushed back against the U.S. plan to impose a 12.5% tariff on Australian goods, calling any such measure "unjustified and inconsistent" with the free trade agreements between the two countries.

"There is an ideological disagreement where the United States administration has broken with what was a decades-long understanding that tariffs are not positive for the country that is imposing them," he said.

These tariffs, he warned, would be a penalty on U.S. consumers and harm international trade.
